Subtle Stila In The Know Look

I put together this quick pictorial of a look I created the other day using the Stila In The Know palette.  My boyfriend bought this for me when it was on sale at Ulta earlier this year for half off.   I love all the earthy matte shades!

This look is super easy to do and only includes three shades.  It is quite subtle and just gives you a nice orangey shadow in your crease.  Fire is my favorite shade in this palette and I have a hard time resisting it whenever I choose to use the In The Know palette

1. Sweep Day over your eyelid starting from the middle, towards the outer corner.

2. Start adding some Fire to the outer corner and blend forward.

3. Add some Earth in the crease and along the lashline in the outer corner and blend out.

4. Finish with eye liner and mascara (I used NYX gel liner and Benefit They’re Real mascara)

That’s it!   This look is super simple and most of your time is spent just blending everything together.  This step is very important though so make sure you have the time to blend properly!

Let me know how you liked this pictorial!  Are there any other looks you’d like to see?

FOTD: Can’t Get Enough Coral

I really need to expand my range of colors.  Whenever I’m creating a look and I need a pop of color, coral just seems like such a great option.  In this face of the day, I used the coral, gold, and light and dark brown shades from the LORAC afterGLO palette, and a hint of Half Baked from the Naked 2 palette for some extra sparkle.  I kept the coral focused on the inner corner for a pop of color and used the browns to darken up the crease.

I kept the coral theme going through the rest of my face, with rosy cheeks and my favorite coral lipstick.

Ah hooded eyelids.  You can barely even tell I have color on my eyes.  So frustrating sometimes.  Anyone else struggle with similar eyelid shape issues?

FOTD: Throwback Thursday

I created this look a month or two ago on a day that I didn’t have a ton of time to get ready.  It only uses a few products but it can make your face look put together and fierce, even if you’re not totally feeling it.  It also features another product that will be featured in my upcoming giveaway.  Check it out below :)ABM_1394323667

Products used:

  • Urban Decay Naked Basics 24/7 Double Ended Eye Pencil
  • Elf lipstick in Posh (one of my favorite reds!)
  • Smashbox BB Cream
  • Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Dark Brown
  • Benefit They’re Real Mascara

The goal of this look is to be quick and make make sure I look awake for work.  The double ended eye pencil is perfect because I can use the black to line the top lid and the nude along the bottom to define the eye and brighten it.  The BB Cream hides flaws and evens my skin tone, while the red lipstick just makes me feel like a bad ass.

This look can take me less than 10 minutes (depending on how well my wings go the first time I attempt them), and makes me feel presentable for work even if I just rolled out of bed.

The Urban Decay Naked Basics 24/7 Double Ended Eye Pencil is another one of the products that will be featured in my upcoming giveaway to celebrate when Seeking Subtle Glow reaches 10,000 views.  Also included will be the new LORAC afterGLO palette, as I mentioned here.  Make sure you keep checking back and sharing with friends to have a chance to win!

FOTD: Throwback Thursday

My fotd today is from approximately three months ago when I finally realized I could use tape to shape my eyeshadow.  I have no idea what I was trying to achieve with that weird tail thing I created on my eye but I was so proud of my blending with the gold and reds.  I felt so confident this day and felt likeI had finally had that lightbulb moment when it comes to make up.  As you can see now, I still have a long way to go but I loved how finally being confident to wear bold colors on my eyes made me feel.

The eye shape definitely looks a bit better when their closed.  I’m still learning how to work with my hooded eyes so things often look very different when my eyes are open vs. closed.  I love how the colors blend into one another, but I wish I would have rounded out those outer corners a bit.  My brows are obviously not ideal in this photo either.  I was still struggling to find the right products to use, specifically something dark enough to match my hair.  I have since picked up the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Dark Brown which I’m obsessed with.

This look was created using the Lorac Pro Palette with the colors Gold, Garnet, and Black.  The lips I kept nude with just a bit of gloss.  Check out another picture of the full look below :)

FOTD: Gray and Pink

I really felt like wearing blue eyeshadow today but not everything always works out how you want it to.

Mainly because I don’t seem to own any blue eyeshadow.  I was hoping I could do a blue-gray smokey eye using the Slate shade from my Lorac Pro Palette and Smoke from my Stila In The Know palette, but it went a bit more gray than I was planning and I realized I didn’t have any other blue eyeshadows to blend in to try and up the blue factor.

I can roll with the punches though, so decided to just stick with the gray and add a pop of colors in my lips to account for the neutrals on the eyes.  Pink and gray is such a classic combination so I grabbed a Wet&Wild lipstick in Dark Pink Frost that I picked up at Walgreens last week for 69 cents! (I obviously bought three).  Take a more detailed look below :)

FOTD: Stila In The Know Palette

Last Monday I wrote about the amazing deal Ulta was having on the Stila In The Know palette for only $20.  Well my amazing boyfriend must read my blog or listen to my incessant hinting, because he woke up and went to Ulta right when they opened that day to get one for me.

EOTD Stila In The Know

This is my first all matte palette so I was excited to play with the colors and work on my blending skills.  I was immediately drawn to the beautiful orange shade named Fire and decided to use that in my first FOTD with the palette.  I also used Wind, Earth, Clay, and Driftwood.

I think I could have tried to blend a bit better but I love how all of the colors complement each other.  The shades included seamlessly transition from one to another and all have a great earthy feel.  I paired it with a simple lip because the eye color is so dramatic, and used Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Dark Brown for the brows.  Check out the full face below!

As always, comments and constructive criticism are welcome.  Let me know which colors are your favorite from this palette!  Did anyone else pick this up in the Ulta deal of the day?
